The Montgomery County Radon Rental Law was first introduced in 2022 and was proposed by Councilmembers Rice and Katz. This comprehensive legislation protects tenants by requiring testing, mitigation, and disclosure of radon levels in rental properties.

- Ground-contact units in multifamily dwellings
- Basement units in multifamily dwellings
Testing Requirements
- Test must be less than 3 years old
- Required before new leases and renewals
- Mitigation required if levels ≥4.0 pCi/L
